Welcome to Coyote Creek — A Community of Open Space, Custom Homes, Scenic Home Sites, and Equestrian Properties

Coyote CreekCoyote Creek is a gated master planned community located on the southeast outskirts of metropolitan Tucson. Coyote Creek is the result of years of planning by developer Peter Backus. Peter’s commitment to preserving the open space and beautiful Sonoran Desert landscape – alongside the best of contemporary living amenities – makes this the finest subdivision in the Rincon Mountain foothills.

The Coyote Creek sales office also serves as the home of Backus Realty and Development.

The Best Trail Access in Arizona

Whether you enjoy walking, hiking, biking or horseback riding, Coyote Creek's access to local, state and national trail systems is second to none in Arizona. Next door is Saguaro National Park, full of giant cacti and some of the best trails in the area. The nationally-known Arizona Trail is also here, extending through Arizona from Mexico to Utah. For shorter outings, Coyote Creek provides its own private trails through beautiful desert and the Coyote Creek wash.

A Gated Community of Custom Scenic Lots and Luxury Custom Homes

Coyote Creek’s luxury homes are all custom designs, built within a designated envelope on each acreage to protect the view you select. The home sites here are one-of-a-kind, engineered especially for Coyote Creek to maximize your enjoyment of open space and spectacular desert. The community is gated for your privacy.

Luxury Custom Homes start at $400,000 (house and lot) and range up to $1 million.

Opening its first phase in 2000, Coyote Creek will continue to add lots as needed in the future.

Secluded Equestrian Properties

A unique feature of Coyote Creek, our secluded equestrian home sites allow private stables and corrals. Or our state-of-the-art Equestrian Center is available for resident boarding and use. The access to trails within the community and to many state and national trails are an attractive feature for horse owners. A select number of these large horse properties are still available.

Open Space and Protected Views

Over 75 percent of Coyote Creek’s 1000 acres is open space. More than 2 ½ years were spent designing Coyote Creek’s home sites to protect the views of each alongside preserving open space and native desert. Each lot yields fabulous protected views of the Rincon Mountains, Southwest desert, or Tucson city lights – sometimes all three. Several small parks are located throughout the community.

Coyote Creek has been honored by the Sonoran Institute for its open space preservation.

Annual Coyote Creek Events

Coyote Creek Fiesta

The annual Coyote Creek Fiesta, a benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson, has become a favorite Southern Arizona event. Open to the public, this event is more fun than we should allow, but we do it anyway. We have horseback and wagon rides, mariachis, a western band (dancing encouraged), whole roasted pigs and all the barbecue sides, raffles and a lively auction.

The next Fiesta will be held March 23, 2013. Contact the Coyote Creek Sales Office at 520-647-0030 for more information.

Roasted Chile Festival

Think September and chile harvest – that’s when Coyote Creek joins with the Rincon Valley Farmers Market to present the annual Roasted Chile Festival on the grounds of the weekly Rincon Valley Farmers Market, 12500 E. Old Spanish Trail (520-591-2276). Last year, the Festival set a new record with 4,000 chiles roasted and sold in one day! Arts and crafts, a beer garden, plenty of delicious food, live music, organic produce, plants and much more make this an annual event not to be missed.
